This year there was an amazing selection of hard working, passionate candidates to choose from. After a thorough review, we can announce the finalists: Chelsea Wright, Mikayla Shave and Sophia Bax-Wooten.
“‘A lot of power and passion in a tiny package’ is a phrase that others often use to describe me because I am usually very enthusiastic and fired up about the things I am passionate about. I believe in empowering humans to reach their fullest potential and one way I do this is through my non profit organization called Girls Who Know where we educate adolescents about their sexual and reproductive health. A very important part of their humanity. This scholarship really means a great deal to me. I will have more time to focus on my studies and build an impactful organization ! Thank you Next Day Animations” – Chelsea Wright
“I am a dedicated civil servant to the mentally ill and am motivated to change the world for when my kids grow up. I want them to see more love.” -Mikayla Shave
“Social justice stands at the core of my work as an advocate and ally within various leadership capacities. I am committed to bettering the lives of minority communities through politics and policy. The Illustrating Awesomeness Scholarship gives me the opportunity to thoughtfully engage as an intellectual on the Spelman Campus. As I matriculate through college I will remain grounded in my mission for an equitable world. I appreciate the team at Next Day Animations for not only acknowledging my capacity to make change but fueling it!” – Sophia Bax-Wooten
We highly encourage all candidates who did not make it to the final round to apply next year!
