You’ve probably heard that organic food is good for you. But what does that really mean? The Organic Center is a nonprofit organization with a mission to educate the public on the science behind the health and environmental impacts of organic food and farming practices. Doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, but here’s the thing: if you care about topics like GMOs, honeybees, or climate change, their research and education efforts are probably important to you.
We worked with TOC to create a video that focuses on organics’ relationship to soil health in a way that conveys accurate scientific information, but is still accessible and easy to digest. Soil health is a huge, global issue, but in this video we broke it down into smaller pieces that are easy to understand. Farming practices and shoppers’ decisions at the grocery store don’t seem like much on their own, but they add up to have a major impact on the environment.
This is a perfect example of our collaborative process in action: The Organic Center brought tons of scientific research, and we used our scripting expertise and vibrant illustrations to make it engaging and fun.
While soil health is just one topic that The Organic Center digs into (pun intended), it’s a great entry point into their work. You can learn more about them at their website, and watch the video below.

Personally, I’m excited to check out some of their organic recipes. Who’s in the mood for some Velvety Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie? And if recipes strike your fancy, check out our last blog post about how to make a deliciously inventive animation.
