Congratulations to our 2018 Illustrating Awesomeness Scholarship recipients!
This year we received 150 applications from highly qualified young people all over the country. The following recipients and honorable mentions demonstrated through their essays (written and video!) how they have and will continue to change the world for the better.
Maja Collier
My name is Maja Collier and I am a criminal justice major at Alabama A&M University. I have a passion for helping others and fighting injustices in society. I am honored to be a recipient of the Illustrating Awesomeness Scholarship which celebrates those who strive to make the world a better place. This opportunity fuels my desire to positively enhance the lives of others.
Azeen Keihani
My name is Azeen Keihani, I’m a freshman at UC Berkeley studying Neurobiology and Nutritional Science and I am so grateful to be receiving this scholarship. I’m from Sacramento, California and come from a family of love, support, and passion and I hope to make them proud someday, with the help of this scholarship. Not only does it put money towards my education but it proves that I am worthy, strong, and have a future ahead of me, something that my parents and immigrants around the world are not so lucky to have.
Aline Olguín
My name is Aline Olguín and I am from Phoenix, Arizona. I am a senior studying bilingual education at the University of Arizona. I want to be a bilingual teacher because I want to spark a love for learning in children early on and advocate for families’ native languages. I am entering my semester of student teaching and thanks to the support of the Illustrating Awesomeness scholarship the financial burden won’t be as heavy. I am so grateful I will get to put my all into my time with my students. I want to get the most out of these educational experiences to become the qualified teacher children deserve, which is why I am very grateful for this scholarship.
